I'm Hayley. I work as a Chartered and Registered Clinical Psychologist with 14 years experience of working in mental health within the NHS, but I have also just completed a MSc in Sports Psychology.
This gives me a unique perspective: not only am I a highly trained psychologist used to dealing with complex mental health problems, but I have also got expertise in applying psychology to performance settings, such as the sporting arena, or even within your workplace.
In addition to my professional training, I'm also a lifelong sports fan. From playing tennis for Wales as a youngster, to competing as an amateur age-grouper in triathlon, representing GB at the Olympic distance, at the European Championships in 2013 - I really understand the power of the mind in affecting performance and am passionate about helping others achieve their potential.
My drive is to empower others and build them up to achieve their full potential. I adopt a very holistic approach to my work, gathering a detailed history from my clients to make sure I fully understand the identified “issue” in the context of their life, as there are many factors that can impact upon our performances.
My background means I'm able to apply a range of psychological models to my work, depending on the needs and presentation of the client I am working with, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Positive Psychology, Solution-focused work, and motivational interviewing techniques, as well as psychological skills training for sport, such as imagery and self-talk, and specific models for sport psychology.
This means that each individual gets a service tailored to their needs and preferences, and my flexible approach allows me to adapt this service as need be to suit what you, as my client needs.
